Aleris is helping people in Scandinavia get the care they need, showing the world that treating more patients without using more resources is possible.

We are pleased and proud to see that more and more patients are choosing Aleris. High accessibility, a welcoming approach, and quality throughout the patient journey are highly valued by our patients, providing both a sense of security and the best conditions for a smooth recovery. It is inspiring to see that Aleris employees have handled 3.6 million patient visits – an increase of 67% compared to 2023.

Throughout 2024, we have continued to grow and strengthen our role as a leading healthcare provider in Scandinavia. Patients come to us directly, through insurance companies, and via public healthcare agreements. We are seeing growth across all areas, but an increasing number of patients are choosing to come to us directly when they are unable to receive timely care within the public system.

In 2024, insurance-based care has grown by 15% compared to 2023, privately funded care by 10%, and public contracts by 6%.

Focus on key areas of specialist care

We offer expertise and high-quality care across a wide range of areas, including orthopaedics, medical diagnostics, mental health, preventive healthcare, and plastic surgery.

In recent years, we have refined our operations to focus on health and specialist healthcare services, with an emphasis on planned surgery, mental health, and medical diagnostics. This has been achieved through growth in key segments such as orthopaedics and mental health, while divesting businesses outside our prioritised focus areas.

Our expertise includes:

  • Planned surgeries including orthopaedics and plastic surgery
  • Mental health
  • Medical diagnostics
  • Hospital at home
  • Preventive health

“We are proud to put the individual’s needs first, whether they come to us privately, through insurance, or via a public contract.”

2024 and beyond

Committed to meeting future healthcare demands, Aleris continues to strengthen its position as a leading provider of specialist healthcare in Scandinavia.

Our focus on medical expertise, efficient operations and increasing access to care means leveraging digital care solutions, strengthening our partnerships and listening to our customers in order to be ready as patients volumes rise and new treatment methods emerge. This journey is attracting top medical talent across Scandinavia.

2019-2023 Renewed focus on specialist healthcare

The foundation for today’s Aleris was laid when Triton took over the company in 2019. This shift brought a renewed focus on our core business, leading to Proliva joining Aleris in 2020, alongside the divestment of our radiology and primary care divisions. The later integration of Art Clinic and PP Clinic further strengthened Aleris’ position as one of the largest privately owned providers of specialist healthcare in Scandinavia.

Broad portfolio and digital services

By 2015, Aleris was a large health-care with a wide range of clinical operations that was still undergoing growth and development. To meet the rising demand of fully digital patient experiences, Aleris introduced a subscription-based digital video service for doctor consultations.

Two years later we also launched the Swedish digital care platform Doktor24 for online triage, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up—enhancing accessibility and efficiency in healthcare.

The early years

Aleris was founded in 2005 under the ownership of EQT. In the following five years, the company grew rapidly through a series of acquisitions across Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. Aleris expanded into new segments such as hospital care, habilitation, geriatric care, and primary care.

When Investor acquired Aleris in 2010 it sparked another round of expansions, strenghtening our position in primary care and rehabilitation, as well as specialist care.

In the following five years Aleris went on to become the largest private hospital operator in Denmark, found Scandinavia’s only private cancer treatment center in Norway and become a major provider in geriatric care and residential services in Sweden through a series of acquisitions and construction projects.
